The forest stretches its limbs
to touch summer’s blue sky…
its green sleeves
only as brilliant as each leaf
that bravely faces every enemy
to live its season of growing.
I am a star tumbled
in salty brine,
a universe in a single grain
bullied by an ocean
jealous I have found rest.
